"First Baptist is a caring community of faith where God's mission is understood as existing both inside and outside the church walls. Baptist in tradition and ecumenical in vision, the congregation affirms the gifts of all people who feel God's call in their lives First Baptist has been blessed with a rich past and anticipates an exciting future. God constantly calls and connects; our hope is that with God's direction and your neighbor's encouragement you will always find your place in God's family of faith."
First Baptist Church is a traditional, progressive church with strong family ties. We affirm autonomy, corporate worship, congregational inclusiveness, stewardship, service, missions, women’s leadership roles, and ecumenical activities as central to the life of a New Testament Church. This church has a history of participating in and supporting community activities, but we stand firmly on the separation of church and state.
We choose to partner with numerous Baptist entities, including the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, Kentucky Baptist Fellowship, and Elkhorn Baptist Association. We provide financial support to the Baptist Center for Ethics and Baptist World Alliance. First Baptist is also a charter church of the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. Because ours is a diverse family of faith, First Baptist also supports the Kentucky Baptist Convention, Clear Creek Baptist College, and Oneida Baptist Institute.
